Mary Miller Endorsement

Gun Owners of America is proud to endorse Mary Miller for Congress in Illinois’s 15th Congressional District. Her next election is on June 28th, and she needs your help. Miller is a true fighter for the American people in Washington, D.C. She is just the kind of principled, pro-Second Amendment advocate we need. Miller earned GOA’s support because she opposes any new gun control laws and will work to roll back unconstitutional gun laws aly on the books. She agrees with the Founding Fathers that the Second Amendment is a safeguard of freedom and liberty. One example of Congresswoman Miller’s principles in action is her no vote on “red flag” gun confiscation laws. Congressional leadership had added a “red flag” gun confiscation provision in the annual funding bill for our military, which would jeopardize the Second and Fourth Amendment rights of military service members. Even though the bill had bipartisan […]

PA: Stop Mental Health, Backdoor Gun Control

Contact Your State Representative to Oppose HB 2022 Several key allies within the Pennsylvania General Assembly contacted me about a loog, backdoor threat to gun control in a bill that would create new mental health services for school students. HB 2022 sets up a massive, new school-based mental health bureaucracy in an attempt to address the current “mental health” crisis. While the intent of this legislation is noble, it may very well have unintended consequences when it comes to the Second Amendment rights of future generations of Pennsylvanians. HB 2022 puts school-aged students in the crosshairs for mental health, backdoor gun control What makes this bill concerning is the pending US Senate “federal framework” for gun control. Under the proposed framework, potential purchasers of firearms under 21 years of age would require an expanded background check that would include a review of juvenile and mental health records, along with […]

Browning Automatic Rifle: Full Auto Perfection

Hiram Maxim was good. John Moses Browning was better. A friend once told Maxim, “If you want to make your fortune, invent something to help these fool Europeans kill each other more quickly!” Maxim invented the single barrel machine gun in 1885. The Maxim gun could fire 600 rounds per ute and was put to good use in the Russo-Japanese War. It proved Maxim’s friend prophetic, providing a wall of lead from both sides in World War I. The British suffered bloodiest day in their military history on the opening day of 1916’s Somme offensive, when 21,000 British soldiers were cut down by fire from the Spandau, the German version of Maxim’s machine gun. This full auto Browning Automatic Rifle will be on offer in Rock Island Auction Company’s August Premier Auction. John Moses Browning In 1885, Browning was just getting started. He had aly earned the first of his […]

Pinfire Guns: An Ammunition Oddity

Definition: A pinfire gun is a firearm that utilizes pinfire ammunition. In a pinfire cartridge, a small pin protrudes from one side of the case. When the pin is struck by the hammer of the firearm, the pin strikes a primer inside the cartridge causing a small primary explosion that ignites the black powder inside the base of the cartridge and propels the bullet/shot. Various examples of pinfire ammunition. Invention of the Pinfire Cartridge French gunmakers were highly influential in the development of self-contained firearms ammunition. Pinfire ammunition was designed by French gunmaker Casimir Lefaucheux in the 1830s and patented in 1835. The pinfire cartridge was the first widely used self-contained cartridge type and made breech-loading firearms significantly more practical. Initially, the pinfire cartridge utilized paperboard cases with brass bases, but full-metallic cases were developed by Benja Houllier, another French gunmaker, in 1846 shortly after Louis-Nicolas Flobert patented the first […]

GOA Calls on Gun Rights Supporters to Oppose Senate Gun Deal

URGENT: Gun control reaches 60 votes in Senate This is our do-or-die moment. It was announced over the weekend that a gun control “compromise” has reached 60 votes in the Senate, giving it a filibuster-proof majority. NC: Stop North Carolina’s Sell Out Senators

); Dear friend, Politico is now reporting that Senator “Traitor Thom” Tillis has just agreed to a deal with gun banning Democrats, stabbing in the back the very voters who helped him achieve victory in his most recent reelection. CNN reports Senator “Benedict Burr” has also signed on to the agreement with enough other Republicans to defeat any filibuster on the measure. Included in this deal will be the relegation of young, law-abiding adults to second class constitutional status when it come to the purchase and possession of yet undefined categories of firearms. Also included will be […]

“Fact Checkers” Fail to Address Critical Change in Definition of Receiver, Inadvertently Prove “False Claim” True

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Washington, D.C. So-called “fact checkers” and Big Tech inadvertently validated Gun Owners of America’s concerns while targeting a tweet as disinformation for censorship. Immediately following passage of the “Untraceable Firearms” section of H.R. 7910, Gun Owners of America tweeted that the bill would “crialize disassembling, cleaning, and re-assembling your gun without a firearm manufacturer’s license.” Despite labeling the tweet “false,” the Associated Press’ source presumes Gun Owners of America’s interpretation might be valid, acknowledges that the bill’s language is “confusing and ambiguous,” and instead claims that no one is likely to “ever be charged under this statute.” The Supreme Court usually declares such laws “void for vagueness” under the 5th Amendment, but that hardly makes policy analyses of unconstitutionally vague legislation untrue! In fact, GOA was merely pointing out that the definition of a “ghost gun” was so vague that it included many unserialized parts on guns in circulation today, like a slide on a […]

NC: GOA Wins Big and Rally to Protect the 2A

); Dear friend, Gun owners continue to win big in the Tar Heel State! We recently informed you that, in response to litigation filed by Gun Owners of America (GOA) and Grass Roots North Carolina (GRNC) regarding delays in handgun permits, a Superior Court judge last month issued a preliary injunction enjoining Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden from further delays. Now, a June 8, 2022 consent order issued against McFadden requires the sheriff: To process NC pistol purchase permit applications within the 14 calendar days required by law, and issue permits to qualified applicants immediately as required under G.S. ‘Gun Control’ Controls the Wrong People

The more time passes in the wake of the terrible mass murder in Uvalde, the more damning details emerge that enrage everyday Americans. You may have heard that a desperate mother was restrained by police outside the school, or that a father tried to rally support for charging in while the authorities stayed outside as the shots continued to ring out. But possibly the worst story emerged earlier this week. We learned that a local man witnessed the Uvalde shooter crash his car, and when he stepped out to check on him in the aftermath, he was quickly met with gunfire. After escaping to safety unharmed, the man retrieved his own firearm and returned to the scene prepared to fight. Instead, he was met by a police officer outside the school and ordered “to stay back and shut up.” This disturbing story is an example of the failure of gun control policy, where […]

House Republican leaders told their members to vote against 8 gun-safety bills, citing opposition from the NRA and Gun Owners of America

House Republicans are poised to vote against eight bills aimed at preventing gun violence this week, in part due to opposition from powerful pro-gun groups on the right. House Democratic leaders have scheduled votes for Wednesday evening on the “Protecting Our Kids Act” — a package of seven gun violence-related measures that includes raising the age for legal purchase of semiautomatic rifles and shotguns to 21, closing the “bump stock” loophole, and other measures aimed at preventing the illegal trafficking of guns. The House will also vote Thursday on the “Federal Extreme Risk Protection Order Act,” a federal “red flag” bill that would allow family members and law enforcement officials to temporarily block firearm access to those who a court deteres pose a danger to themselves or others. In a “whip notice” sent to rank-and-file members on Tuesday afternoon, House GOP leadership urged a “no” vote on all eight bills, referring to the seven-bill […]

(NOTE: our system will automatically detect how your representative voted upon entering your address). ADD YOUR NAME Red Flag Gun Confiscation Laws let law enforcement seize your firearms based on an anonymous “tip” that you could pose a danger to society. There won’t be a trial. You won’t have a single chance to defend yourself. Instead, a SWAT team would show up in the middle of the night to demand you hand over your lawfully owned firearms, no questions asked. So, not […]

AR: Asa Hutchinson Wants to Have a “Conversation” on Gun Control

); Gun owners everywhere are heartbroken over tragedies in Uvalde, Texas and Buffalo, New York. Even so, we know that gun control is not a solution that will help prevent such tragedies. However, it appears that Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson (R) does not agree with everyday gun owners. Instead of standing up for gun owners and the Second Amendment — and advocating for solutions that will actually help prevent tragedies like repealing gun-free zones and arg willing school staff — he has stated he is open to “have a conversation” on raising the age to buy a firearm. This […]

FPC letter to U.S. Senate: Closed-Door Gun Control Negotiations

(June 9, 2022) Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) sent a letter today to the United States Senate demanding that the Senators engaged in closed-door gun control negotiations recall their sworn duty to protect and defend the rights of the People, and reverse course in their attempts to destroy our fundamental right to keep and bear arms. Gun Owners of America blasted for urging GOP Reps. to vote against 8 gun-safety bills

House Republicans are poised to vote against eight bills aimed at preventing gun violence this week, in part due to opposition from powerful pro-gun groups on the right…. In a “whip notice” sent to rank-and-file members on Tuesday afternoon, House GOP leadership urged a “no” vote on all eight bills, referring to the seven-bill package as the “Unconstitutional Gun Restrictions Act.” They wrote that House Democrats had “thrown together this reactionary package comprised of legislation that egregiously violates law-abiding citizens’ 2nd Amendment rights and hinders Americans’ ability to defend and protect themselves and their families.” The email also noted the opposition of the National Rifle Association and Gun Owners of America, including links to talking points from the NRA about both the gun package and the red flag law. Leaders also noted the opposition of Heritage Action for America, an advocacy group tied to the conservative Heritage Foundation…. Screenshot of […]
